The Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council (IT
SCC) was established on January 27, 2006 to act as the principal entity for
coordinating with the government on a wide range of critical infrastructure
protection activities and issues. It brings together companies, associations,
and other key IT sector participants to work collaboratively with the
Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies and officials on
critical infrastructure protection.
The IT sector envisions a secure, resilient, and protected global information infrastructure that can rapidly restore services if affected by an emergency or crisis, ensuring the continued and efficient function of information technologies, infrastructures and services for people, governments, and businesses worldwide.
Many critical infrastructure sectors are primarily composed of finite and easily identifiable physical assets. Unlike such sectors, the IT Sector is a functions-based sector that comprises not only physical assets but also virtual systems and networks that enable key capabilities and services in both the public and private sectors.
These critical IT Sector functions are provided by a combination of entities—often owners and operators and their respective associations—that provide IT hardware, software, systems, and services. IT services include development, integration, operations, communications, and security.
The IT SCC is a 501 c(3) organization. If you would like to donate, please click the button below:
